When I was younger… so much younger then today (I feel a song coming on), I had, what I felt was the ultimate teenage beauty secret… I’m not sure who made it, or what it was called, I only knew it as a whirly-thing-a-ma-gig machine, which cleansed and polished my teenage face to perfection. I received it for my birthday, I think it was my 13th, and there was something about it that made me feel… well like a pseudo-adult-in-the-making. Eventually, the machine was put aside for other new and trendy facial products promising to cleanse, protect and promote the youthful glow that everyone my age already possessed… but as is the way with teenagers, that did not keep us from trying everything on the market, filling our sinks mile-high with the latest and greatest.
So imagine my surprise, when a recent beauty product entered the market with gusto and I was asked to give it a try… it promised “Exfoliation, pore tightening and miniaturization”… hmmmmm. The package arrived and it looked familiar… and beckoned for me to give it a try… once again. Could this new whirly-thing-a-ma-gig machine (okay, let’s call it what it is, the Spa Sonic Face and Body Polisher), hold up to my memories of days gone by? Would my 40++ year old skin (okay, I’m not afraid to say it… almost 50) benefit from the same kind of beauty regime adored by my 13 year old self? I’m not too old to give it a try…
First off, the package comes with similar attachments as I had previously used, but the bristles of the brush seem softer to the touch and more on target with where my skin is today. I placed some cleanser on the brush and began to cleanse away… ah yes, I remember just why I liked this contraption… so far, very positive reaction!
Second, the facial buffer designed to moisturize and help erase fine lines. Now I don’t particularly remember using this back in the day, but I absolutely LOVED applying my moisturized this way! And yes, I did see a visible difference between my face cream sitting ‘on top’ of my face… and being gently ‘whirred’ into my skin… definite A+!
Third… I have recently started body brushing, and so the large body brush was way softer than what I am currently use to… but I will give this one a positive mark as well, as not everyone is into body torture… I mean body brushing – LOL!
Forth… Add to that a fabulous pumice stone (you know we ALL need to be using this!) and in my opinion, you have a winning combination!
Oh, and did I mention it’s waterproof? Let’s make that number 6… All in all, the Spa Sonic Face and Body Polisher has kept all of the great features from this beauty flash-back in time from days gone by, and I plan on making a place for it on my sink, permanently…
