Naturcolor Natural Hair Color from Italy

Always on the lookout for natural hair color products without ammonia, Naturcolor Natural Hair Color from Italy fit the bill perfectly! On a recent trip to my local Whole Foods Market, the box caught my eye and I decided to give it a try.

Benefits of Naturcolor Natural Hair Color

Naturcolor leaves the hair with variations of color. The unique emollient herbal base adds sheen and softness to the hair. The micronized plant pigment color base imparts coverage from the most subtle to the richest shades available, depending on the color selection.

Naturcolor has no ammonia which eliminates the usual “fume” odor, protects the scalp with nourishing ingredients and does not stain the scalp, does not damage the hair, allows you to achieve even coverage simply by combing it through the hair; This creates the most natural looking color possible.

And finally, Naturcolor was designed for use by chemically sensitive people. The natural herbal ingredients have been meticulously blended to achieve beautiful lasting color without resorting to harsh or dangerous chemicals.

Naturcolor comes in a complete home coloring kit that includes everything you need to achieve beautiful lasting color.

UPDATE 2/14/15 – While the price of Naturcolor is the same (similar) whether I purchase locally or online, I find that the options for getting my specific color (5R) are greater online, as both of my local natural stores seem to have limited availability.

Available online at Amazon.com or at your local Natural/Whole Foods Market stores, or check things out online at Naturcolor.com

  1. I’m so happy to see this wonderful review of Naturcolor, which I’ve been using for over 10 years! Shortly after I started using it, my hair, which is normally very dry, got much healthier and shiny. My hairdresser noticed and now uses this hair dye with all of her clients. In addition to making my hair healthier, I’ve found Naturcolor easy to use and clean up after using. Also, it doesn’t have a bad smell. I’m so glad this product is out there. I’ve even written a fan letter to Naturcolor.

  2. I have been using Naturcolor Herbaceuticals for a few years and I love it. However, I have one problem. I follow the instruction on the box that says if you have a lot of gray put some develolper on clean hair for 10 minutes and then wash it out, dry your hair and then apply the haircolor. That’s fine, except t that I am using a lot of the developer which is suppose to be mixed with an equal amount of color. Where can I buy the developer alone so I can use it for the situation above. If I use a lot of developer I don’t have enough. Please let me know as soon as possibl4e.

  3. Hi Camille ~

I have successfully been using this without the developer… and I have a LOT of gray to cover! I just keep the color on the roots for a longer length of time and it seems to work perfectly every time 🙂

  4. What I do wrong? I used and hair feels kind of weird texture. I mixed equally and brushed on roots. Left for 25-35 minutes. Rinsed and used the complimentary shampoo and conditioner in the box. Something also seemed to make my shower curtain color bleed into tub, maybe not be related to this but not sure. Somewhere in directions it talked about using diluted vinegar rinse to get pH back and I did that and texture is better. A month ago, I had the whole head dyed at salon (they used a corn based dye with no ammonia). I don’t think could be an interaction? I only dyed roots this time. Any tips would be helpful, Not sure but maybe its ok?

  5. Thank you for the info on Naturcolor, I too found it at Whole Foods, but that was while I was away on a trip to Florida. I love the product and was very happy with the results as well and I want to use it again, but the problem is finding it anywhere online because we don’t have a Whole Foods nearby. Any suggestions?

  6. Hello, My name is Lisa Quartana. I am salon owner in Michigan. I would like to know where I can buy this hair color? Please tell me who to contact or can I contact. Some one local?

    Thank You Lisa Quartana

  7. I am receiving a lot of unncessary emails. My only question was “can I buy the developer” separtely somewhere????????????

  8. Hello, I am an user of this dye since summer last year, I discovered it in my local heath food store, I think I paid $ 14 or 17, but it is worth to pay considering the less chemically invasive formula to cover my gray roots. What I like about this is a)no nasty smell, b)excellent lasting gray coverage, c)won’t show outgrowing transition like with other chemical dye. The multicolor sheen is beautiful. Once I asked my hairdresser to use it on my hair and she was thinking whether she could actually introduce this product in her salon. – I am using 9R Pale Saffron Blonde

  9. Hi, I have used this product and am in love. It is gentle and effective, my hair feels gorgeous and my pure white grays are gone! Also, I am prego now and my shiny whites are gleaming….. I know this is my best option to use while prego or any other time, but is it ok to use prego?

  10. Just got this from a breast cancer site. Be aware of this chemical, look it up. Seems like caution should to be taken to keep it off your skin if you want to use this product. I like it, I’ve used it, but it will not be on my skin anymore.
“Most permanent hair dyes contain potential irritants and carcinogens like formaldehyde and ammonia. Petroleum-based coal tar derivatives and phenylenediamine cause cancer. Products containing phenylenediamine can cause blindness if the solution drips into eyes. There is suggestive evidence these products increase breast cancer risk. Dark and black colours are particularly toxic.”

  11. Just want to add that this product does not test on animals. Most products on the market make use beautiful at the expense of torture to these poor voiceless animals. But this one claims NO ANIMAL TESTING.
    BRAVO!

  12. To all concerned, Please contact Herbaceuticals directly with any and all questions about Naturcolor. Talk to a live person toll free at (800) 784-8212. M-F 8am to 5pm PST. Thank you.

  13. Unfortunately our local Whole Foods doesn’t carry it anymore (2/2013) in Ann Arbor. Plum Market does

  14. I Love this hair color!! My hair was fried, using Wella & Goodwell @ my salon. When I was in Miami, a Aveda hair cutter told me to buy Naturcolor. I used 5M CHATAIN GRENADE CLAIR & Loved it !! The problem is I can`t find it… Please Help Me ASAP I live in Buffalo, New York 14211

  15. I used color 7r and i see a little dark, can i mixed with 8r ?

    But i like very much

  16. I love this product the best. It’s the best hair natural hint that I’ve tried. I also like Naturtint very much! Naturcolor is more natural though. I have ash brown hair and I use N-blonde series and it covers my grey and lighens my brown but not too much.
If you want higher lift (lighten your hair several shades) Naturtint will do that. If you want a little bit of lift Naturcolor is for you.
Naturcolor ALSO has a lightner that is so gentle you can even sleep with it. It lightens only so much then stops.

  17. Love this product. I have used it for a very long time. I use 7D. The golden D, color seems to last longer It comes out as a medium dark blonde shiny golden color. Very close to the natural golden blonde color or my youth, but a pinch darker, so it doesn’t wash out. I also use Andalou shampoo and cond. It is safe or color treated hair. I buy Naturcolor at Whole Foods. Soon I am moving to a remote area to retire; I use 3 boxes of this every 6-8 weeks. I have very thick hair. My hair grows very fast, because I am a vegan. I need a reliable website where I can purchase this product, often. To me there is not another hair color on the market with such beautiful color. I highly recommend the D colors, for their beauty. Naturcolor does not make my scalp itch, like the other natural hair products. I have had inactive skin Lupus for 40 years, and it does nothing to my scalp or skin. (My Lupus is not active because I am a mostly raw fruit and vegetable vegan; and I only use natural beauty products, detergents and cleaners). Would find it hard to live without this product. The beauty of the color seems to make up for my old age a wrinkles, lol.

  18. please help me out choose a color for the first time i have top half of my hair light medium brown with about 5% grey my goal is to cover grey the rest of my hair is golden color due to highlights that were done 7 years ago and i love that golden color which is what i had as a child i dont know if i need to use N series to cover grey per manufacturer recommendations or canI use the 7 D as the guy in whole food store recommenede 7 D is closer to my hair color but i am afraid it will not cover the grey that requires an N series that is my first time ever using this brand i used to go to a stylist to color my hair also please advise of any recommended time to leave on the roots to make it last longer or get the desired color

  19. I have used Naturcolor for many years and it is the best I have ever found – no negative reactions and the color lasts well. Unfortunately, since moving to Germany I have not been able to find the product although I have done lots of research (they claim the product is from Italy). I finally ordered directly from the Naturcolor company in Napa but it ended up costing a fortune due to shipping plus a big charge was slapped on by the German customs . Just would love to know if anyone can tell me where I could find it in Europe – Wholefoods is not cooperating which I can understand. No doubt they think I may want to import the product here on a larger scale. NOOOOO I only want to use it myself….thanks for any suggestions.

  20. Hi Barbara 🙂

    Check out this company:
    http://fave.co/19NH53Q
And look at International shipping on the bottom o the page… Germany is not listed at this time, but they said to meal them to get the Country added to the list 🙂

    Hope this helps!

    Thrive…

  21. I just purchased Naturcolor; 6N for my base and 5R for a red-caramel highlight. This is the first time I am using Naturcolor at home, in the past I have had this done at a salon. My dilemma is that I am not sure how to duplicate the color without calling up my hair stylist. Which, I will not be doing. So, I am hoping I can get some help from others whom have used this product. My natural hair color is a medium-dark brown with approximately 30%+ grey (especially along the hair line around my face). The Naturcolor (which my stylist applied) on my hair is a combination of brown and caramel , which I really like. Can anyone tell me if the colors that I purchased , which I mentioned above, 6N/5R , will produce this effect? Or should I just use the 5R or some other series for highlights? Of course, I still have my grey to cover and as I understand it the “N” series covers the grey not the “R”. Please advise.

  22. I have been using Naturcolor for some time and wanted to purchase a Shampoo/Conditioner but am not seeing anything in the stores or online. Does anyone know if they sell this as well? The kit comes with the Rinse/Conditioner I know but I wanted to purchase more.

  23. There appears to be some confusion between products with similar names. Just to clarify, 2 posts by Valery (on 2/18/12 and 1/6/14) contain links to a different product line that is not Naturcolor.

Naturcolor welcomes you to contact us directly with any questions you may have: (800) 784-8212.

  24. I’ve been using this product for at least a year, and love it. I have short hair, and a box lasts me three root jobs – about 3 months. I have light to medium brown hair, with about 40 percent grey. I combine 7R and 8R, and it works great to color my grey, without using developer first, or an N color. With these lighter dyes, I get a look that is very natural, like a really great highlighting job. I make sure I only work the color into the roots, and then unevenly comb it about half way out the hair, so that the lighter, previously colored and then sun-faded hair, makes the effect fade from auburn at the roots to nearly blonde towards the ends. Sometimes the color washes out a bit around my temples, giving me a bit of silver around my face, which I feel makes it look very natural at 55. Who doesn’t have a little gray at this age? AND the smell is so tolerable. I used to make sure I colored my hair several hours before my husband got home, or it would really irritate him, but now he says I can do it with him IN the bathroom at the same time! (Wish I could get some extra Gel Developer!) I buy my product at Central Market, a Texas based grocery store.

  25. Hi

I need an email address from Naturcolor or Herbaceuticals inc as I have not been able to contact them via phone from abroad.

    Would be great.

    Thank you.

    Anna

  26. I would like to buy the Naturcolor shampoo and conditioner but I don’t know where to get it. Can you help me?

  27. I just got my hair colored and cut in a salon, they used organic hair dye. when it was all said and done it cost me $235.00! anyway my question is how long does it last and does it fade?

  28. In my opinion, it lasts as long as my salon coloring… And I can’t say I remember it fading (but this has a lot to do with daily life… I.e. Do you swim in a pool?). I use both home and salon coloring throughout the year… And don’t seem to have an issue with doing both 🙂

  29. Dear Consumer Relations:

I Have Purchased The 4N Burdock Shade Of The NaturColor Gel Permanent Hair Color Solution.I Have Black Hair . What Shade Should My Hair Be After Applying This Hair Color Shade 4N? Please Describe It To Me As Vivid As Possible.

    Thanks
    Josi Nunez

  30. Josi,
Naturcolor is limited in the amount of lightening that it can achieve due to it’s more natural formulation. We consider black a level 1 (see our color 1N), whereas you have purchased a level 4, so 4N is 3 shades lighter than your natural color. Naturcolor can only be expected to achieve 1 shade of lightening. If you proceed, you may notice your hair being a slightly lighter shade = very dark brown, but there will be no drastic change. You may also see a slightly red undertone when under natural sun light. Your hair is very dark though, so the red undertone may not even be visible. Naturcolor is most typically used to dye light hair to a darker shade, and to cover grey, but lightening requires chemicals, so is not recommended for anything beyond a very subtle change.

  31. Is it possible to ship this product to buenos aires, Argentina?
I used it as I was staying in nyc and it worked perfectly, but there´s nothing similiar in Buenos Aires.
    Thanks

  32. i used your product for 3 years and i always get the right color.Except this time i use one to darken my color and get rid of the red tomes and within one week the red tomes came out .I am really NOT satisfied with this product now.

  33. I have used Revlon 60 for a long time and notice my hair thinning and people have told me to use Naturcolor. What color should I get I am a ash blonde?

    Thank you

  34. What is a good & natural shampoo to use with Naturcolor that will compliments its use and not remove the color quickly, as so many seem to do?

  35. I too am trying to find out where can I purchase shampoo and conditioner separately. I’ve been using this product for a few years and I love it. My hair is long and there is not enough to wash and condition for my touch up.
